Sign the Stand "I for Peace Petition July 24, 2008
Dear Susan,
We urge Congress to make the reduction and prevention of violence a national priority in the next Congress. You do not want to join us?
Sign the "I am for Peace" petition and encourage everyone you know to do the same.
This is not a partisan issue and it is not an element specific legislation. It is awareness of a public health problem of largely preventable disease costing billions of dollars and one million lives each year. There are proven solutions out there, but they are meaningless if we do not use them.
Our young people deserve better. They deserve to live in a country where the reduction and prevention of violence is a national priority. They deserve to be safe and to grow without fear. It is therefore we ask you to join us in saying: "I am for peace."
11 September 2008, we will deliver the petition to Congress leadership. We have set a goal of 5,000 signatures extremely conservative. But why not 50,000? 1000000? 300 million - the current population in the U.S.? After all violence a destroyer of all opportunities. We will not intact.
Is this an amendment to petition the world? Of course not. But it's a phase, one of the many that must be taken to The area of consolidation Fred margin of political dialogue and community and to the center of our policies, investments and understanding.
We must come together to make our voice heard and tell our representatives in Washington that violence reduction and prevention should be a priority. Sign the petition and let Congress know that you stand for peace.

In peace and partnership,
All of us at the Alliance of PEACE
Petition Text
I believe in peace Make violence reduction and prevention a national priority
To: Presidents the House Nancy Pelosi, Majority Steny Hoyer House Minority Leader John Bohn House leader, Majority Leader Harry Reid, Senate, and Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell:
Violence pervades American culture and its consequences are devastating. Consider some sobering statistics:
World Health Organization estimates that costs of violence in the U.S. 300 billion dollars a year. The cost to victims is estimated at more than 500 billion dollars a year. [1]
U.S. homicide among young more than 10 times higher than other major industrial nations. [2]
Direct cost of corrections by the local authorities, provincial and federal between 1982 and 2004 rose 585 percent to 62 billion dollars a year. [3]
Ultimately, domestic violence, interpersonal consumer nearly 10% of our internal Gross Gross (GDP). And it does not include costs associated with war. [4]
As overwhelming as the financial cost, the human cost is increasing.
The Heartbreak of this enormous waste is that it is largely preventable. We have skilled experts in the science of peacemaking, effective programs to reduce and prevent violence, and our colleges and universities already provide the next generation of peacemakers.
What we lack is political commitment, visionary leadership, and institutional necessary platform to create a strategic plan, focused effort to provide our citizens, communities and countries to resolve the conflict, before it erupts into violence.
We the undersigned stand for peace, asking you to make the issue of reducing violence and prevention a national priority in the next Congress. We can no longer sit idly by as a phenomenon largely preventable destroyed lives and drains our national heritage.
More than 300 colleges and universities offer degrees in the consolidation of peace and tranquility. The current spectrum of peacebuilding expertise includes our advanced techniques in conflict resolution, Peer Mediation, Post-conflict reconstruction and many other forms of alternative dispute resolution (ADR). Many programs across the nation, has proven effective to reduce and prevent bullying, school violence, recidivism, domestic violence, dependency on social services, crime and much more - and they've done while saving taxpayers money.
Unfortunately, current policy trend toward reactive, not proactive approaches to reducing violence. Generally we expect that the violence took place and then ask our police are already over-taxed and the military to treat these symptoms of violence through activities such as imprisonment of offenders and engagement in armed conflict. Although such removal of symptoms is crucial, it is incomplete and must be reinforced by strengthening preventive measures, with particular emphasis identification and treatment of root causes.
Please join us in saying: "I am for peace." Help us to save lives, save money and save our country for future generations.
To reduce and prevent violence a national priority in the next Congress.

They are American Silver Eagles. They are worth a premium above the silver market price. The thing to know is are they 'business strike' or 'proof' coins? Proofs are generally worth more, because they were made for the collector market, while the business strikes were made for the bullion investor (though collectors want them, too). The proofs will have polished, mirror-like backgrounds and frosted designs.
If you have the business strikes, the 1996 is the key coin in the series. They are selling for $35-$40 on eBay. The others are selling for $20-$25, including the cost of postage. If the seller is charging a higher shipping cost, the buyers are paying less for the coins. So if you were to sell the entire group as one lot, you would get more for the coins because the total postage cost (you could ship them priority with insurance for $10 or less) would be spread out over ten coins. Someone buying them a coin at a time will end up spending $20 to $40 just on combined postage.
This is as of today, with silver at $16+. If it drops back down to $13, the collector value won't change for the 1996, but the bullion value for the rest of them will drop about $3 each. If the price goes back up to $20, the 1996 might budge a bit, and the others will be in the $24-$29 range (with postage).
For the proofs, the prices are quite a bit higher and the value of the silver is not an issue. The 1994 is the key, that one is $70-$80. The 1993 and 1995 are better dates, $50-$60. The rest go in the $30-$45 range.
If you were selling these today, I would ask $300 for the business strikes as a group, and $525 for the proofs.
